Our Patron, Lady Camoys along with her daughter-in-law, Lady Ailsa Stonor, invites members of OGT to visit Stonor Park, for a guided tour of the formal gardens which include the Walled Garden, Old Kitchen Garden and Lady’s Walk, which date back to medieval times. A private tour of the recently created Wool House gardens with Lady Camoys is included.

The gardens at Stonor date back to Medieval times. In 1480 the walls of the great garden and orchard were first pinned and white-washed by the Stonor family. Today, the same family of the same place are still passionate horticulturalists and tend the gardens their forbears laid out more than 700 years ago.

Within the walled garden you will find a terraced Italianate pleasure garden filled with sculptured box and yew, peonies and lily ponds with vistas of the park beyond. Wander westwards to discover the old Kitchen Garden, redesigned in 1978 by Lady Camoys, with stunning borders of herbaceous perennials and avenues of Irish yew.

Lady’s Walk, under planted with snowdrops, spring bulbs, primroses depending the season with the various cherry trees, hazels and other shrubs, completes the journey through these sunny, terraced gardens with their unique sense of place and dreamy views of the surrounding parkland
